No More Cheap Watches
We love to see me as being frugal. Sadly, this frugal persona is often seen as being “cheap”, by my family and friends. Sure, some times the line between being frugal and being cheap becomes blurred. Just like the time Required a paint brush, but performed not have one perfect. wooden sunglass
The position that needed to be done was a tiny one, and I would not want to drive all the way to the store just for a paint brush. Staying the thrifty guy that I am, I got one of my wife’s old hair brushes and cut a tiny patch of bristles from the conclusion. My spouse and i then took the brush bristles and zip tied those to the end of a broken wooden spoon.
This kind of make-shift paint brush performed the trick. Not only did I save personally the trip to the store, I finished the job that I was focusing on, and I puffed up my pride and self worth by being so ingenious and cheap.
How was I intended to know that your brush was my wife’s favorite wash? Or that the solid wood spoon was a part of a matching placed that fit “just right” in the little plastsorter chef spoon holder that sits empty on the counter? The toothbrush sat on her desk for a long time without use and the wood spoon that I shattered came out of the junk drawer.
It failed to matter with her that I saved time and money with my make-shift paint brush. To her, I was just being cheap. Go figure.
I did so learn my lesson in regards to some things. I actually will no longer buy cheap clothing to work in, and after twenty years of wearing cheap watches, Over the internet that wearing a “throw away” watch is little or nothing more than totally wasting your money.
The old telling, “you get what you pay for”, holds true with watches.
My thinking on watches was this: ‘If I buy an expensive watch and rip it up or break it, I am away a major chunk of change. But, easily tear up or break a cheap watch, I am only out the few cash that I plopped down because of it. ‘ That beliefs has flip flopped.
That all changed when I actually bought my first “good” quality watch. It had been a Swiss Army watch that runs in the four hundred dollar range. This included a heavy butterflies band, sapphire crystal zoom lens, and stainless-steel case. Nothing at all fancy, save the yellow metal trim.
The thing that is an abbreviation for out about this quality level watch, is how well it is made. Following a year and a half of abuse and misuse, this thing just keeps on ticking.
The cheap watches, that My spouse and i threw good money away on, would last for six to nine a few months, if I was blessed, and half that point We couldn’t read the time because the viewing contact lens was all scratched up, or the light ceased working. Then the functions, like the stop watch or alarm, would stop functioning. The buttons would fall off, and the band would break.
Everything that heart ache and inconvenience might have been averted, had I not recently been so frugal/cheap, and absent ahead and purchased a good quality watch to start with.
Have I learned my lesson? Yes. I have found that some individuals just do not recognize or appreciate genius and genius when they notice it, and that a cheap watch is merely that. Cheap.
Sure, more hair brushes may suffer from a minimal bald spot, and wood made spoons may wrap up being nothing more than a stick. But a watch is not something one should be skimpy on.
